Five Popular Jobs Likely To Be Outsourced In The Future
Outsourcing, also known as offshoring when it’s done internationally, is a trick applied apparently to save money and become more competitive. Besides, this practice also helps companies to leverage the expertise and talent of human resource without actually having to hire them. Here are the most popular business operations that are likely to be outsourced in the future.

With all the discussions and talk shows arguing over the benefits and perils of outsourcing, it helps to know what exactly it is and why companies love to outsource.
Outsourcing is the process of contracting out a portion of a particular business operation or the entire business operation to an external company. Without outsourcing, these jobs usually would have been completed by the in-house employees and the company would have to spend valuable time and other resources in getting that work done, which brings us to the question:

   Why does a company outsource?

Deciding if outsourcing a particular function or operation is beneficial is a subjective process that varies from company to company. However the biggest motivation while choosing someone outside the organization to handle a particular responsibility is reduced operating costs. When the management at the company comes to realize that outsourcing can help deliver significant savings that will have a defining impact on a company’s annual balance sheet it decides in favor of outsourcing.

Another situation in which outsourcing seems a sensible choice to make is when the company wants to focus on its core operation and free up its talent from engaging in mundane and time consuming activities. Some companies outsource not because they do not have enough finances to sustain a particular business operation, but due to an internal resource crunch which can be covered up by gaining access to world class resources not available internally.

To roundup, a survey done by HfS Research and KPMG International on a sample of 1355 stakeholders revealed that 87 percent of the companies seek to reduce operation cost through outsourcing, while 81 percent want outsourcing for the greater flexibility it offers and 74 percent of the companies seek it to standardize processes.

Here are the five popular jobs that have witnessed outsourcing:

Writing

Most industries outsource their writing and marketing functions to another agency or a freelance writer who is not the part of the organization. A freelancer provides his services on contractual basis and can handle multiple contracts at a time. The benefits of these freelance writing jobs are leveraged by newspapers, websites, online marketing companies, educational institutions and book publishers.

Manufacturing

Large manufacturing enterprises are outsourcing their key manufacturing capabilities to countries away from their main production plant. Apple, the world’s most valuable technology company gets it’s i-devices assembled in China. Similarly, electronic firms like General Electronics and Boeing have also outsourced their key manufacturing functions overseas. The cost savings achieved are huge. The main difference is in the daily wages of workers which is quite low in countries like China and Vietnam. In the wake of efforts of the government to bring back these jobs to their own country, the extent of manufacturing outsourcing has lowered a little, but as the cost of establishing a new manufacturing plant is huge, these jobs will continue to be outsourced for the time being.

Information Technology Support

In the always connected world, it is now possible to provide technical support from anywhere across the world to anyone, even if the beneficiary sits seven seas apart. That is why most IT support people sound a different accent. The support staff is trained to walk the customers through their technical difficulties over the phone. These technical support guys are trained to gain access to your computer through networking tools and make the required modifications. iYogi is one of the renowned names in this genre.

Call centers

Call centers is the most popular known manifestation of outsourcing. Considering the huge cost savings that involve in offshoring tasks such as completing surveys, informing customers about new products, executing new telemarketing campaigns, most companies opt for it. Philippines and India are two of the most popular locations that serve the purpose of establishing a call center perfectly.

With a huge base of population with good English speaking skills, lower monthly wages, and lower cost of setting up the whole infrastructure, these countries lure the major computer manufacturing firms, hotels and banks to outsource their call-related functions to them. Capegemini and Convergys are well known players engaged in this domain. For being hired at one of the various Capegemini jobs, one needs to be a graduate with excellent English speaking skills.

Research & Development

The future of outsourcing promises great prospects for research & development. Microsoft, the tech giant recently came up with their $100 million research center in Shanghai. The center will employ around 1500 employees. Similar research centers are planned in other countries with an excess of technical talent pool like India and Singapore. These research & development centers are the newest manifestation of outsourcing and are yet to be seen growing on a similar scale as Business Process Outsourcing. But nevertheless, analysts predict a hopeful future for research outsourcing.
